The fourth and final short story in Jeffery Deaver's The Broken Doll collection doesn't live up to the previous instalments。 It's been a good series & it's a shame that this one was the weakest entry in an otherwise enjoyable ride。 The fourth and final short story in Jeffery Deaver's The Broken Doll collection doesn't live up to the previous instalments。 It's been a good series & it's a shame that this one was the weakest entry in an otherwise enjoyable ride。 。。。more
Jo,
Well i was enjoying this, thinking maybe I would give the final one in this series a four, but actually it was almost a two as suddenly it ended。 Where was the finish and ending to the story!? Feel slightly cheated that I've put all this effort in and don't even find out what happens。 Maybe we are supposed to decide ourselves but it is very unsatisfying Well i was enjoying this, thinking maybe I would give the final one in this series a four, but actually it was almost a two as suddenly it ended。 Where was the finish and ending to the story!? Russell Gray,
I really enjoyed this and it was great to step back into the action outside of the courtroom after Book 3。 But I just can't excuse the fact that the story just ended out of nowhere with no resolution。 It connected to the events of Book 1, but didn't continue from that point onward。 I was genuinely surprised when the story ended since I was reading on Kindle and wasn't paying attention to the completion rate。I searched to see if there was a Book 5 even though I was pretty sure it was only a four- I really enjoyed this and it was great to step back into the action outside of the courtroom after Book 3。 But I just can't excuse the fact that the story just ended out of nowhere with no resolution。 It connected to the events of Book 1, but didn't continue from that point onward。 I was genuinely surprised when the story ended since I was reading on Kindle and wasn't paying attention to the completion rate。I searched to see if there was a Book 5 even though I was pretty sure it was only a four-part series。 I went back and looked to see if each book had a staggered release date and maybe 5 was still on the way。 But nope, all four stories were released simultaneously。I liked this a lot but I can't say I'm a fan of the blue balls ending。 。。。more
Barcie,
The 4-story series ends with Sixty-One Seconds, which brings us back full circle to the minutes preceding the very first story。 We also find out where the collection's title, The Broken Doll, comes from。 As other reviewers have stated, the out-of-order timeline does make for some confusion, but you'll get plenty of "aha!" moments as everything is revealed and you begin to see the connections between characters and events。 The 4-story series ends with Sixty-One Seconds, which brings us back full circle to the minutes preceding the very first story。 We also find out where the collection's title, The Broken Doll, comes from。 As other reviewers have stated, the out-of-order timeline does make for some confusion, but you'll get plenty of "aha!" moments as everything is revealed and you begin to see the connections between characters and events。 。。。more

crime boss A good short read。 Only one unanswered question。 How did the doctor 3scape。 I am a good reader so it will bother me that it was not answered。
Kodakjack,
??I guess I don’t understand why this isn’t put together as one work。 Why are there four short stories that cannot stand on their own?
Bill Hooten,
At the end of the 4 installment series, I am left feeling a little bit frustrated。 I feel as if the story has not been completed。 So, I am either frustrated because it was left undone, or angry because I have to look for more installments in this series。 Up until I didn't get a finish (and that may have never been the author's intention), I had really liked where this story was heading。 At the end of the 4 installment series, I am left feeling a little bit frustrated。 I feel as if the story has not been completed。 So, I am either frustrated because it was left undone, or angry because I have to look for more installments in this series。 Up until I didn't get a finish (and that may have never been the author's intention), I had really liked where this story was heading。 。。。more
Kirsty Hinchliffe,
The final book in the series is an alright conclusion, as Constant desperately tries to find and bring her target to justice。 The book does for the most part wrap up most loose ends and the reader does get an understanding of how the books interlink and how the characters each play a pivotal part in each other’s life at key moments。 The ending could have been stronger, offering a bit more resolution however the open-ending conclusion does offer the potential for a follow-on book。 Here is hoping The final book in the series is an alright conclusion, as Constant desperately tries to find and bring her target to justice。 The book does for the most part wrap up most loose ends and the reader does get an understanding of how the books interlink and how the characters each play a pivotal part in each other’s life at key moments。 The ending could have been stronger, offering a bit more resolution however the open-ending conclusion does offer the potential for a follow-on book。 Here is hoping this is not the last we see of Constant Marlowe。3 stars。 。。。more
Svetlana Ivanov,
Very good series。 I hope it is going to be continued。 But if not, please, at least write some new short stories or even new novels About Constant Marlowe。 It is a brilliant character。 And don't forget about Evan Quill。 I recommend this series to everyone who likes a good read。 Very good series。 I hope it is going to be continued。 But if not, please, at least write some new short stories or even new novels About Constant Marlowe。 It is a brilliant character。 And don't forget about Evan Quill。 I recommend this series to everyone who likes a good read。 。。。more

VERY UNSATISFACTORY ENDING!!! Boo to The Author!4 Stand-Alone but Integrated Short Stories。Jumbled Order courtesy of The Author。Mass Confusion for The Reader。Very Unsatisfied Feeling when they stories tie together, but then there is no ending。 Yes, The Reader can let their imagination go wild, but that’s what The Author is good for — except, not in this case。Boo。
Ray Cerrone,
Book 4 of a 4 Book SeriesI just loved the way these 4 stories were woven together。 Even better, the series is free to Prime members。
Lonnie Zamarripa,

Marlow is ConstantThe character of Constant Marlow is well-developed。 She's a cop not to be messed with。 She's intelligent, tough and Constant-ly pursuing the bad guys。 Love her character 💕。 Marlow is ConstantThe character of Constant Marlow is well-developed。 She's a cop not to be messed with。 She's intelligent, tough and Constant-ly pursuing the bad guys。 Love her character 💕。 。。。more

A ruthless killer will stop at nothing, not even a shootout on the court house steps, to evade justice。The concluding story in 'The Broken Doll', "Sixty-One Seconds" is probably the clearest of the stories presented。 As each story unwinds independently, it may be interesting to read the stories in a different order at a later date。 A ruthless killer will stop at nothing, not even a shootout on the court house steps, to evade justice。The concluding story in 'The Broken Doll', "Sixty-One Seconds" is probably the clearest of the stories presented。 As each story unwinds independently, it may be interesting to read the stories in a different order at a later date。 。。。more

This one took a turn quickly! I don't blame Constant at all for her actions, first with her boss and then after。 I even liked the help that she got。 I just hope she gets her man! Cherie Gilmore,
Short story number 4 of 4 of the Broken Doll short story series。 This book happens on the same day (April 20th) as book 1 pain hunter。 So I was a bit confused and thought I accidentally was rereading book 1。 In order book 1 covers April 20th。 Book 2 covers April 5&6。 Book 3 April 4-6th。 Book 4 covers April 20th。 Each of the first three books has a different protagonist but the same antagonist。 Although this book does wrap up the series of short stories, it does feel unfinished。 Interesting choic Short story number 4 of 4 of the Broken Doll short story series。 This book happens on the same day (April 20th) as book 1 pain hunter。 So I was a bit confused and thought I accidentally was rereading book 1。 In order book 1 covers April 20th。 Book 2 covers April 5&6。 Book 3 April 4-6th。 Book 4 covers April 20th。 Each of the first three books has a different protagonist but the same antagonist。 Although this book does wrap up the series of short stories, it does feel unfinished。 Interesting choice to use third person narration and multiple protagonist。 It avoids the confusion that often happens with constantly switching narrators。 Currently free for Amazon prime members on both kindle and audible。 。。。more
